PREVIEW:
The Caminos del Inca rally is reaching its final stretch. Today (7:00 am), the penultimate stage, number 5, from Ayacucho to Huancayo, will be raced, where Raúl Orlandini will start as the sole leader of the general classification.
The 'Mono' comes from dominating the previous route (between Cusco and Ayacucho) in 5h2m49s. Thus, he accumulated a total of 12h38m34s and took the lead from José Luis Tommasini, who is now second with 12h36h04s.
Although he remains the favorite to win his fourth Caminos del Inca title (the third as a driver), Orlandini does not take his first place for granted. "We are not overconfident because there is still a lot of racing to do, but being at the top motivates us to keep giving our best," he commented.
On the other hand, Nicolás Fuchs, who had two consecutive victories, could not repeat and finished in fifth place in the previous stage. This way, 'Hellboy' is getting further away from the Caminos title, as he is also fifth in the general classification with 13h14m26s.
In other categories, Luis Alayza remains the leader in Super Tourism. Álvaro Silva does the same in Trucks; Jholder Villanueva in S1600; Elvis Aguilar in S2000, and Edgardo Lapel in Joyner.
