In a press conference, Vijay Mallya, the team owner, highlighted the importance of keeping the driver from Jalisco in the team, considered the most successful in the team's history. "Since he arrived in 2014, he has matured to become one of the fastest and most consistent drivers on the grid."
Checo will continue to partner with the Frenchman Esteban Ocon, with whom he had some clashes during the season, which cost them valuable points to the point where they had to resolve their differences in early September.
