The City of Mexico woke up with signs of the Formula E stuck on its walls. The competition of electric single-seaters captures local attention. And this Saturday, the fourth race of the season will be held at the Hermanos Rodriguez racetrack, located southeast of the capital.
From the airport, which is a few kilometers from the racetrack, to the center of Mexico City, the smiling face of a young man who is not showing his teeth greets visitors. Esteban Gutierrez, the great local hope, will participate for the first time in the Formula E.
The 25-year-old and former Formula 1 driver has the great responsibility to win in his debut and, at the same time, earn respect at home. Esteban Gutierrez will race with the Chinese team Techeetah and hopes to give a great show to Mexican fans.
"After four years of an incredible experience in F1, I feel like I'm taking a step forward in the future of motorsport. I'm excited for my debut race in the Mexico ePrix. I hope to be able to put on a good show for the fans in my country," he commented at a press conference.
Esteban Gutierrez will have to drive at full speed the 2.093 km of the circuit, overcome the 17 curves, and defeat 19 drivers so that, after 45 laps, he fulfills his dream and the dream of the Mexican people: to be crowned the winner at the Hermanos Rodriguez racetrack.
It is estimated that 40,000 people will arrive at the Hermanos Rodriguez race track this Saturday. They will be able to see the electric vehicles reach speeds of up to 210km/h (expected maximum speed). However, it has not rained in Mexico City for two days, which will benefit the development of the competition.
