The Milwaukee Bucks will kick off their Summer League stint today against the Chicago Bulls. We may still be a way’s away from the regular season, but at least we’ll have some basketball to watch.
Where We’re At
This is the first time we’ll see the summer Bucks out on the floor. They released their roster the other day, bringing up some discussion points. The beauty of Summer League is that we’ll get to see players who typically don’t get high usage receive a bulk of minutes to see what they’re capable of. It’ll be especially fun to see the newest young Bucks, AJ Johnson and Tyler Smith, step out on the court for the first time wearing Bucks gear.
Player to Watch
I’m going to go back to the young Bucks for this one and go with the obvious candidate: AJ Johnson. We’re all aware of how this was a big swing taken by Jon Horst. He’s a young and raw prospect. After playing just one season over in Australia, it’s going to be fun to see how he acclimates to this new style of play over in the NBA. A lot of Bucks fans were disappointed when the Bucks made the selection, given how old the team is and with the feeling that this isn’t the time to take a development project. The same was said about Giannis when he was first drafted and he had an entertaining Summer League. Now, I’m not saying Johnson will fare out to be a player of Antetokounmpo’s caliber, just that it could be quite entertaining to see what he has in store for Vegas.
How To Watch
You can catch this one today at 3:30 PM CDT on both NBATV and Bally Sports Wisconsin.
