George Washington Revolutionaries
The Revolutionaries’ season kicked off on a pretty nice 14-3 run. George Washington would then hit a rough losing streak however, and didn’t win a game from January 15 to March 6. Following that win over St. Bonaventure, the Revolutionaries closed out the regular season with a loss to Duquesne.
In the Duquesne matchup on Saturday, the Revolutionaries trailed by four points going into the second half. George Washington got better from there on a 35-33 run but still lost 67-65 in the end. Darren Buchanan was the leading team scorer on his 19 points with seven rebounds and four steals.
La Salle Explorers
Over on the Explorers’ side, they posted an 11-14 run over their first 25 games. That stretch included a 1-9 run in January/February. La Salle has since gone 4-2 however, beating UMass, St. Bonaventure, Rhode Island and George Washington with losses to Duquesne and Loyola otherwise.
Matched up against Loyola over the weekend, the Explorers were down 37-28 going into the second half. La Salle was outscored 27-26 the rest of the way and ended up falling 64-54. Tops in scoring was Jhamir Brickus with 11 points, four assists and six rebounds.
ANDREW’S FREE GEORGE WASHINGTON VS LA SALLE PREDICTION
I’ll stay with La Salle. The Explorers need a good bounce-back on offense after falling to a tough Loyola squad in their last game, however. La Salle put up just 39 percent shooting in that one alongside a 42-37 rebounding deficit and 15 turnovers. The Explorers had scored 72 or more points in four of five games prior to that, however.
In the March 2 matchup between these teams, La Salle took a 72-66 home win. The Explorers shot 43.1 percent from the field in that one and had a 35-30 rebounding advantage (13-6 offensive). La Salle is going to need a complete game in this rematch, and I think they’ll get it.
