Miami Heat and Jimmy Butler are three wins away from being NBA champions
After a simply impressive playoffs run, the victory in Game 2 against Denver has given them home court advantage and has opened the door to be the last team standing. What would winning the ring mean for the forward? This is what he explains.
"It's everything. That's why everyone plays this, to win a championship. Everyone is here to win a championship. It's everything we focus on. We put so much energy into winning and playing for each other... If we do this together, we can celebrate this together, we're like, I don't know how to explain it. We're determined to leave our mark in history forever. We're on that path," he comments to ESPN.
At 33 years old, and after stints with the Chicago Bulls, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Philadelphia 76ers, Butler has embraced the culture of the Miami organization to become the flagship player of a team that has had Erik Spoelstra as head coach since 2008.
"It's simply about winning, it's about hard work, about being together... You only have people here with one goal. We're not concerned about the money you make, we're not concerned about statistics, we're not concerned about being in the All-Star game, we don't give a... about being the MVP of the conference finals, and honestly, we don't give a... if there's no MVP of the Finals. We only care about winning the championship, and then we can break that damn trophy into 15 pieces and each take a part of it," he says.
