LeBron James makes history again. The Los Angeles Lakers star became the NBA's all-time leading scorer, surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's 38,387 points in the match between the Lakers and the Oklahoma City Thunder.

There was great anticipation before the game because 'The King' was 35 points away from equaling Kareem's record. And so it was, before the end of the third quarter, LeBron scored a double to reach 38,388 points and break a record that had been set over 38 years ago.

Immediately the game was stopped and a tribute was paid to LeBron for this historic achievement. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar himself even congratulated him for breaking his record in the NBA.

"I just want to thank the Lakers fans. They are unique. Being in the presence of a legend like Kareem means a lot to me. Please give a standing ovation to the captain," said an emotional LeBron James.

Los Angeles Lakers fall again

But it wasn't all smiles for LeBron James, the Los Angeles Lakers lost 133-136 to the Oklahoma City Thunder and suffered their second consecutive defeat in the Western Conference.

The Lakers are far from the positions that would qualify them for the playoffs. If the losing streak continues, LeBron James and company will miss the playoffs for the second consecutive year.
