WALDPORT — Sophomore post Gabe Williamson scored 15 points and the Oakland boys basketball team cruised to a 51-7 win over Waldport in a Valley Coast Conference game on Thursday night.
The Oakers (16-3, 9-2 VCC South) trail No. 7-ranked Gold Beach (17-3, 11-0) by two games in the South Division.
Oakland led 39-7 at halftime and shut out the Irish (2-15, 2-10) over the final two quarters. Silas Arscott had a career-high 10 points, five rebounds and four steals, Joseph Fusco contributed eight points, seven assists and four steals, Brayden Bridges had six points and four steals, and Tucker Cozart added five points and six boards.
Justin Gainer scored five points for Waldport.
The Oakers are scheduled to host No. 4 East Linn Christian at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the Nut House. The Eagles (18-2, 11-0) lead the North Division.
"There will be a lot of physicality," Oakers coach Jeff Clark said of the matchup with ELC. "They're a talented team and we'll have to play well."
