The Rutgers men’s basketball game against the Ohio State Buckeyes provided the perfect backdrop for Greg Schiano to woo many of the top football recruits from the region on Sunday. More than 30 recruits from New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and other states — and their families — walked into Jersey Mike’s Arena and witnessed Rutgers avenge a controversial, early-season loss to the Buckeyes in an overtime classic, in front of a packed house. The win hoisted Rutgers men’s hoops into the AP Top 25, but it also moved the needle for some of Rutgers’ top football visitors.
A member of the NJ.com Top 50, Kaj Sanders is one of the top juniors in New Jersey and one of Rutgers’ top in-state targets in his class. A 6-1, 185-pounder, Sanders spent time with Greg Schiano and defensive coordinator Joe Harasymiak who both expressed how much of a priority Sanders is to the team and its future.
