Jonas Valanciunas scored 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Pelicans, who won despite Zion Williamson being excluded from the lineup due to NBA-implemented safety protocols.
The Pelicans made 13 three-pointers. McCollum contributed seven, with the first one giving New Orleans the definitive 3-2 lead in the opening minutes.
The Pelicans' lead even stretched to 23 points. New Orleans opened the fourth quarter with a 19-point advantage.
San Antonio got back into the game with a 10-0 run, led by Stanley Johnson, who scored nine of his 12 points in the final quarter.
But McCollum single-handedly kept the Spurs at bay. A floater in front of the basket yielded his first 19 points during a crucial seven-minute stretch.
