IMSS carried out a family race to promote physical activity.

IMSS Holds the IMSS Family Race 2022

The Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS), through the Technical Coordination of Physical Culture and Sports, held the IMSS Family Race 2022 as part of the National Physical Activation Program for Health, with the aim of encouraging the population to engage in sports and physical activities for the prevention of chronic degenerative diseases and health recovery.

The General Director of Social Security, Zoé Robledo, participated in this sporting event and at 7:00 a.m. gave the start signal for the 10 km race; the starting point was in front of the IMSS offices on Paseo de la Reforma and approximately 7,000 competitors from the men's and women's branches participated.

Zoé Robledo thanked the health sector authorities and the actors involved in promoting this activity and "setting an example to begin healing ourselves from the other epidemics that afflict us."

He pointed out that with the start of this activity, a series of various races will begin to improve the quality of life and prevent chronic degenerative diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, obesity, and overweight.

In his speech, the Technical Coordinator of Physical Culture and Sports, Héctor Garcia Antonio, reported that, at the instructions of the IMSS General Director, a series of races will be held for runners and the general population with the same format.

In the women's 5 km category, Evangelina Prado Márquez took first place with a time of 00:19:31; second place went to Alma Elena Ávila Mejía with 00:20:47; and in third place, Fabiola Martínez Plata with 00:21:56.

In the men's 5 km, José Roberto Rivera Reyes came in first place with a time of 00:17:21; second place went to Athos Sajid Saucedo Núñez with 00:17:28; and the third place was obtained by Christian Ibrahim Acevedo Olivares with 00:17:33.

For the women's 10 km, Maricela Hernández crossed the finish line in first place with a time of 00:42:16; Elizabeth Ramos Miguel arrived in second position with 00:42:35; and in third place, Mónica Gabriela Aguilar Hernández with 00:43:11.

In the men's 10 km, Alberto Marmolejo Cruz won first place with a time of 00:33:24, followed by Christian Rolando Castro Ramírez with 00:33:45; and in third position, Alejandro Alejandre Sánchez with 00:35:06.

The winners were awarded by the IMSS General Director, various authorities from the Institute, and the IMSS Foundation.

During the development of the sporting event, a health fair was held with various prevention and physical activation modules, through the PrevenIMSS+, NutrIMSS programs, the Lose Weight, Gain Life strategies, and Health Promotion and Physical Activation for Health.

Likewise, information was provided about the Physical Culture and Sports services offered at IMSS Operative Units, the institutional social benefits to contribute to having a healthier, more productive population and improve quality of life.

Various sports activities were carried out such as NFL Play 60, a soccer station, Taekwondo station, and a recovery module for runners with muscle massage services, flexibility, support, and explanation of injuries.

Personalities such as Horacio Llamas, the first Mexican basketball player to play in the NBA; Manuel Negrete, former soccer player; Tinieblas, legend of Mexican professional wrestling; Mariana "La Barby" Juárez, professional boxer; Alejandra Valencia, multi-medalist in the specialty of Archery; and the head coach of the National Rhythmic Gymnastics Team, Blajaith Aguilar, attended the sporting event.

In addition, Nadine Gasman, from Inmujeres; Javier Hidalgo, head of the Mexico City Sports Institute; Dr. Célida Duque Molina, Director of Medical Benefits at IMSS; Dr. Mauricio Hernández Ávila, Director of Economic and Social Benefits, among others, were present.
