It has been a busy offseason for the Philadelphia 76ers, and more could be in stored. First, Daryl Morey stocked up on wing depth by signing P.J. Tucker and Danuel House Jr.. Members of the organization then flew out to the Hamptons to being working on a new contract for All-Star guard James Harden.

Following their initial flurry of moves, ESPN’s Brian Windhorst mentioned that more additions could be on the way for the Sixers. One of the possible moves was brought up mistakenly after a slip-up on social media. Dallas Mavericks sharpshooter Reggie Bullock shared a picture on his Instagram story that spoke about him making his way to Philadelphia.

Bullock quickly took to Twitter and jokingly responded about the incident after it was picked up by fans so quickly.

Bullock, 31, is a six-foot-six three-and-D wing who spent the past year playing for the Dallas Mavericks. He appeared in 68 games last year and posted averages of 8.6 PPG, 3.5 RPG, and 1.2 APG while shooting 36% from three on close to six attempts per game.

How The Sixers Can Trade For Reggie Bullock

To make things work from a salary-matching perspective, a multi-team trade might be needed for the Sixers to facilitate a trade for Bullock. He is signed through the next two seasons with an annual salary slightly over $10 million.

One piece that will likely be part of this deal is Matisse Thybulle.  Leading up to the start of free agency, Bleacher Report’s Jake Fischer reported that the Mavericks and Portland Trail Blazers were both interested in the Sixers’ defensive stopper.

In addition to James Harden sacrificing some annual dollars, it’s believed the Sixers are still exploring various trade options to free financial flexibility, as well as upgrade their roster with premium veteran talent. The two teams most often mentioned as Matisse Thybulle suitors have been Portland and Dallas.

Thybulle’s $4.3 million salary for next season covers some ground, but more will be needed to execute this trade. If a third team doesn’t get involved, Dallas’ return would likely be centered around Thybulle, Furkan Korkmaz, and draft compensation.

Reggie Bullock is Perfect Fit For Sixers’ New-Forming Identity

Based on the moves the Sixers have already made, it’s clear the type of player they are looking to add around Joel Embiid and James Harden. Similar to Tucker and House, Bullock is a two-way wing who is an above-average defender. This past season, he posted a defensive rating of 111.8.

With the offense being centered around a dominant big man, having proper floor spacing is necessary. Along with being a positive on the defensive end, Bullock is also a reliable kick-out option. Last year for the Mavericks, he connected on 37.4% of his catch-and-shoot threes.

The Sixers have their offensive firepower in Embiid, Harden, and Tyrese Maxey. Now, Morey is flanking this trio with wing players who can defend multiple positions and be utilized as floor spacers.

Defense and toughness have been key areas of emphasis for the Sixers this offseason, and Bullock fits that description. If acquired, he would be a perfect fit alongside the team’s stars.
