Basketball is one of the sports disciplines most affected by the arrival of the coronavirus, as the suspension of activities has caused delays in sports calendars and athlete training.
For this reason, the La Victoria District Basketball League has decided to reactivate itself by organizing a Sub 12 category championship, which is being successfully held in different sports venues in the jurisdiction.
The tournament is named after Marco Hende Thomas, former president and founder of the La Victoria District Basketball League, who passed away last year.

Although the tournament is not official, due to the lack of a Peruvian Basketball Federation (which received international sanctions), it is being held in order to reactivate competitions while the respective formalization is sought at the national level.
The participating teams are Sport Vidales, Ferreyros School, JNC Basketball Motupe, Vecos, Osos, and Basket F.C., who have already played the first round of this championship at the Jockey Club de Chiclayo facilities.
The second round will take place on May 15th at a venue yet to be determined, according to the competition organizers.
The La Victoria District Basketball League was created with the aim of promoting sports activity in this jurisdiction and seeking the expansion of different clubs in the Lambayeque region.
