Paula Badosa v Claire Liu Head to Head
Liu has won both their previous meetings, one was an ITF event final in 2017, the other was a qualifying round in Bucharest in 2018.

Badosa Breezes Past Bondár
Last year’s semifinalist Paula Badosa got her 2022 campaign off to a solid start, as the second seed eased past Hungary’s Anna Bondár in the second round on Wednesday.
The Spaniard, who peaked to a career-high ranking of No. 3 this week, needed an hour and 35 minutes to dispatch the Hungarian 6-1, 6-4.
Badosa was off to a flying start, breaking her opponent twice to take the first set with ease. The second set of the rain disrupted match was a match closer one though, as the Spaniard went up a break only to be broken back immediately by the World No. 73. The ninth game of the set saw Badosa squandering four break point chances, but she eventually took the fifth one to lead again and then held on for a 6-1, 6-4 victory over the Hungarian.
With the win the 24-year-old is now 17-6 for the season. She won her third career title this year, when she lifted the trophy in Sydney. She also reached the semifinals in Indian Wells and the quarterfinals in Miami.
Last year, she had reached the semifinals by knocking out Ashley Barty on the way, but lost to Veronika Kudermetova.
Liu Battles Past Zhang
Claire Liu won back-to-back main-draw matches for the first time this year as she knocked out 16th seed Chinese Zhang Shuai 7-5, 2-6, 6-4.
In a two-hour-and-12-minute contest, the 21-year-old American saved two set points on her serve at 4-5 in the first set. She eventually got the first break of the set in the very next game and then held on to go one-set up.
But Zhang came back strong in the second set, breaking her opponent thrice while losing serve just once.
In the third set, Zhang came back from a break down twice in the first four games, but the 21-year-old Liu broke again in the seventh game and then held on for a victory.
With the win, Liu improved her main draw record to 4-3 this season. The World No. 89 had begun her Charleston campaign with a 6-4, 6-2 drubbing of Heather Watson in the first round.
The 2017 Junior Wimbledon champion and runner-up of the girls singles at the 2017 French Open is 9-7 from all matches this year.
