No matter what happens in the playoffs with the Miami Heat, team president Pat Riley and the Heat’s front-office will be entering the NBA offseason looking for ways to better their championship odds.
Every year, Miami is always aggressive in pursuing the best-of-the-best and this offseason will be no different, especially with how crowded the Eastern Conference is with talented, playoff contending teams.
There is very little room for error in the East right now, which is why the Heat do not seem to be content with the three All-Stars they have in Jimmy Butler, Kyle Lowry and Bam Adebayo.
Entering the offseason, the Heat are projected to be slightly under the tax line for the 2022-23 season, making it very difficult for them to make another big move either in free agency or on the trade market, but Duncan Robinson’s contract could be the key to the Heat unlocking more available cap space to spend.

Prior to the start of the 2021-22 season, the Heat and Duncan Robinson agreed to a five-year, $90 million deal, as he had become a key part of their rotation and one of the best three-point shooting threats in the league.
Robinson continues to lead the Heat in three-point shooting numbers this season, but his overall production has decreased with the sudden rise of bench talents like Caleb Martin, Gabe Vincent and Max Strus.
With Duncan Robinson’s long-term value to this franchise in question, Miami could look to move the remaining four years on his contract right now in order to bring in another high-level, All-Star-like talent to contend for titles.
Plenty of teams around the league will be interested in Duncan Robinson should he hit the trade market and one of those teams could be the Indiana Pacers, who have taken a step back this season to “re-tool” their roster.
