Picked to finish last in the Western Conference this NBA season, the Oklahoma City Thunder have exceeded expectations placed on them at the start of the season and they are currently 6-13. Given that they are the youngest team in the league and are in the midst of a rebuild, this is a pretty respectable start for this team.
This young Thunder team plays very hard and while they will still wind up finishing near the bottom of the standings, there is a lot to like about this group if you are an Oklahoma City fan!
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Luguentz Dort and Josh Giddey all seem like high-level talents that will lead this young core for many years to come, but we know that general manager Sam Presti is not done assembling this roster quite yet.
With a total of 35 draft picks through 2028, the Thunder have plenty of opportunities over the next several years to expand on their core of young talents and they will definitely be busy ahead of this season’s NBA trade deadline.

Veterans Derrick Favors and Mike Muscala are possible trade candidates for the Thunder this season, as is Kenrich Williams. About to turn 27-years-old, Williams is in his second season with the Thunder and played quite well last season.
In 66 appearances last year, Kenrich Williams averaged 8.0 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 0.8 steals and shot a very respectable 44.4% from three-point range. Owed just $2M this season and then having the $2M on his contract for next season non-guaranteed, Williams is a key bench talent that could be a trade target for various playoff contending teams across the league this season.
One team who could wind up showing interest in trading for the Thunder wing is the Memphis Grizzlies. Another young team in the NBA, the Grizzlies have shown some tremendous growth over the last two seasons and are led by soon-to-be All-Star point guard Ja Morant.

They do not have many holes on their team and at this point, it just takes time for them to play their best basketball together, but it is never a bad idea to add another bench talent on the wing, especially given Dillon Brooks’ injuries early on this year.
Will the Memphis Grizzlies look to be active near the NBA trade deadline and target Thunder’ wing Kenrich Williams? Let’s take a look at what they would have to give up.
