Michael Jordan, a basketball legend and considered one of the greatest athletes in history, has once again been the talk of the town after the release of "The Last Dance," a successful documentary about his career with the Chicago Bulls of the NBA.
In this regard, Michael Phelps, the swimmer with the most Olympic medals in history, commented that he has identified with Jordan in terms of sports discipline and the obsession with being the best.
"To put it bluntly, everyone says (Michael Jordan) was an asshole. I would say the same about myself. I was an asshole when I was training because I wanted to make sure everyone had the same chances as me to win," Phelps told Yahoo Sports.
This refers to the fact that, as shown in the series, Michael Jordan wanted his teammates to be more competitive and he could be cruel for that.
"We're all working together as a team even though swimming is an individual sport. We want the best for each other, so I would challenge them and make sure they were stressed," the Baltimore swimmer commented regarding applying the same method as Jordan.
As you may recall, Michael Phelps won a total of 73 medals in the discipline of swimming, including the Olympic Games, World Championships, and Pan-Pacific Championships.
