American Serena Williams and Scottish Andy Murray reached the mixed doubles quarterfinals of Wimbledon after defeating Raquel Atawo and Fabrice Martin on Tuesday.
The French-American pair was defeated in two sets (7-5, 6-3) in less than two hours. In the next round, Williams and Murray will face Brazilian Bruno Soares and American Nicole Melichar.
Off the courts for six months after a hip surgery, Murray, 32, returned in the past Queen's tournament, where he won along with Spanish Feliciano López.
But he couldn't replicate his success at Wimbledon, losing in the second round of the men's doubles alongside his partner, Frenchman Pierre-Hughes Herbert.
On the other hand, Williams is two victories away from making history in singles, achieving her 24th Grand Slam title, equaling Australian Margaret Court, and her 8th Wimbledon.
