CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- They've been known to team up to write bills on Capitol Hill, but this time Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Pat Toomey (R-PA) aren't seeing eye-to-eye.
However, it's all in good fun because pepperoni rolls and soft pretzels are on the line.
It all depends how the NCAA Men's Basketball Sweet 16 matchup between the West Virginia University Mountaineers and the Villanova University Wildcats plays out.
Tip-off is set for 7:27 p.m. Friday.
"As proud West Virginia University alumni and loyal Mountaineer fans, Gayle and I are looking forward to cheering on the Mountaineers during tomorrow evening's game against the Villanova Wildcats," said Senator Manchin. "This Mountaineer team has made us proud all season. I'm confident my good friend Coach Huggins will lead them to another win tomorrow. LET'S GO…MOUNTAINEERS!"
"I'm afraid my friend from West Virginia is sorely mistaken if he thinks his Mountaineers stand a chance against Jay Wright and the number one seed Villanova Wildcats," said Senator Toomey. "All season long, Mikal Bridges, Jalen Brunson, and company have dominated their opponents at both ends of the floor—it's therefore no shock that they won 32 games this season. Unfortunately for Senator Manchin, I expect this game will be no different."
The Wildcats are a one seed, the Mountaineers are a five.
Toomey will deliver the pretzels if the Mountaineers win, and vice-versa with the peperoni rolls if it's the Wildcats move on to the Elite 8.
