New Orleans will send Omer Asik, Tony Allen, Jameer Nelson, and a protected first-round pick to the Bulls for the power forward.

The New Orleans Pelicans have reached an agreement to trade center Omer Asik, guards Tony Allen and Jameer Nelson, and a protected first-round pick in 2018 to the Chicago Bulls for forward Nikola Mirotic, a second-round pick, and the rights to swap second-round picks in the 2021 NBA draft, league sources told ESPN.

The Bulls are expected to waive Allen and Nelson, sources said.

New Orleans agreed to guarantee Mirotic's $12.5 million option for the 2018-19 season, finalizing the deal, sources said.

The first-round pick has "minimal" protections, sources said.

The Bulls said Wednesday they would sit Mirotic until the trade deadline passed.

The Bulls thought they had a deal Tuesday that would have sent Mirotic to the New Orleans Pelicans, but Mirotic and his representatives rejected the deal, a source said, because the team option of $12.5 million for the 2018-19 season would not be guaranteed.

Mirotic signed a two-year contract with the Bulls in August.

Mirotic has excelled with the Bulls since missing the first 23 games of the season after a training camp fight with Bobby Portis left him with facial fractures and a concussion.
