riod this year," said Kings coach John Stevens. "We were making good decisions with the puck and creating opportunities for ourselves. It was nice to see us capitalize on the power play tonight."
The Kings got off to a slow start, with the Rangers taking an early 2-0 lead. But a goaltending change sparked the team, as backup goalie Darcy Kuemper came in and shut down the Rangers the rest of the way.
"I thought Darcy made some huge saves for us tonight," said Pearson. "He gave us a chance to get back in the game and we took advantage of it."
The Kings' power play had been struggling during their losing streak, but they found their groove in the second period. Pearson got things started with a goal just three minutes into the period, followed by goals from Amadio and Muzzin.
"We've been working hard in practice to find ways to improve our power play," said Muzzin. "Tonight, we executed and it made a big difference in the game."
With the win, the Kings improve to 11-7-2 on the season and look to build on their momentum moving forward.
