In the most attractive matchup of this weekend in the NBA, the Golden State Warriors of Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant, leaders of the Western Conference (37-9), will face their closest pursuer, the Houston Rockets (31-12) of James Harden. The game will be played at 8:30 pm (Peruvian time, via ESPN 2) at the Toyota Center in Houston.
In the previous game, the Warriors achieved an important 119-112 victory over the Chicago Bulls with an impressive performance by the 'Splash Brothers': Klay Thompson scored 38 points, Stephen Curry added 30, and Golden State tied a franchise record with their fourteenth consecutive away win.
"It was a typical old-school game by the Splash Brothers," commented coach Steve Kerr, referring to the nickname given to Curry and Thompson. This nickname had been mentioned less frequently since Durant joined the team before the previous season. But the two guards, fearsome with their shooting, still have the ability to put on a show.
Thompson made seven of 13 three-pointers, while Curry made six of 11. No other Warriors player even made a three-point shot. "When they play like that, you just play your role and know where to be," said Durant, who added 19 points.
Regarding the game against the Rockets, Thompson said it is one of the toughest of the season. "It's going to be a very tough game, probably the toughest of the trip. And if we can come out undefeated on this trip, it will be something amazing," he said.
