Manu Ginobili's unusual basket
The veteran Argentine shooting guard, Manu Ginobili, continued to dominate the game for the San Antonio Spurs and became the most outstanding Latin American player in the NBA.
Ginobili scored 12 points, including a strange basket, which required referees' review, and once again finished as the sixth man for the Spurs.
His contribution allowed the Spurs to win on the road with a score of 91-100 against the New York Knicks and gave their coach, the veteran Gregg Popovich, his 1176th victory, the fifth-best record for the highest winners in NBA history, surpassing his friend George Karl.
Ginobili played 24 minutes, shot 4 of 6 from the field, including 2 of 3 three-pointers, 2 of 2 from the free-throw line, achieved four rebounds, and made two assists.
The 'invisible' three-pointer
The Argentine international achieved a strange basket when attempting a pass near the three-point line to his teammate, the power forward LaMarcus Aldridge, but the ball went over him. Then, Michael Beasley captured it and started moving up the court while Ginobili spoke to the referees, telling them that it had been a basket.
The referees awarded the basket to Ginobili, but only as a two-pointer. The basket was reviewed after the quarter ended and counted as a three-pointer, giving San Antonio a partial advantage of 67-81, which would be decisive.
"It has been the best basket I have scored so far this season," Ginobili, 40, said after the game. "I didn't understand why they didn't want to count it."
