Cowboys Extend Winning Streak to Ten with Victory Against Redskins

The quarterback Prescott scored a couple of touchdowns, the running back Elliott carried the ball for two more scores, and the Cowboys extended their winning streak to ten games, a franchise record in the regular season, by defeating the Redskins 31-26 on Thursday.

Prescott tied a team record for a quarterback, set by Don Meredith half a century ago, when he scored his fifth touchdown with a run.

The Cowboys (10-1) solidified their position with the best record in the NFL, despite Kirk Cousins' 449 passing yards and three touchdowns, becoming the first Redskins quarterback with two 400-yard games in a season.

"Time after time, in crucial moments, he responded with a big play, whether it was on third down, inside the red zone, time and time again, with a decisive play in our favor," said Dallas coach Jason Garrett about Prescott. "He does the things that a winning quarterback knows how to do."

Washington (6-4-1) was swept by their division rival from the NFC East, trailing Dallas by three and a half games with five games remaining. They also suffered their seventh loss on Thanksgiving in eight games against the Cowboys.

"We've been stuck in third place (in the division) for a while now, so we have to be aware of our situation," said Washington coach Jay Gruden. "The last five games are crucial."

Elliott, the NFL's leading rusher, scored the fourth touchdown in five consecutive possessions that ended in a touchdown in the second half, giving Dallas a 31-19 lead in the middle of the fourth quarter. The 21-year-old rookie accumulated 97 yards and now has a total of 1,199 yards for the season.

The Cowboys ended their streak of eight consecutive games with at least 400 yards, finishing with 353.

But Dallas responded with touchdowns every time the Redskins came close after Cousins threw a 5-yard touchdown pass to Jordan Reed and a 67-yard touchdown pass to DeSean Jackson, who accumulated 118 receiving yards.

After Cousins connected with Reed for his second touchdown pass, an 8-yarder with 1:53 remaining, the onside kick by Dustin Hopkins went out of bounds. The Cowboys proceeded to run out the clock.

Prescott completed 17 of 24 passes for 195 yards and one touchdown, thrown to Terrance Williams. He carried the ball eight times for 39 yards.
