Ximena Zorrilla, student of the Psychology career at César Vallejo University (UCV), Trujillo campus, had a outstanding participation in the National University Athletics Championship Clausura 2023, organized by the University Sports Federation of Peru (Fedup), achieving the Best Female Athlete trophy.
"I am proud of myself. I feel that all the effort I have put into the competition, my training and sacrifices that I have made to have a better sports performance, have finally paid off", she stated.
In this competition, held on October 14th and 15th at the National Sports Village (Videna), more than 500 selected athletes from different public and private educational institutions, schools of the Armed Forces and the National Police of Peru participated.
The athletes showed their talent in different individual and group tests such as: long jump, high jump, javelin throw, shot put, 100 meters sprint, among other disciplines. This event highlights the importance of education and sports in the training of outstanding professionals.
The representative of UCV participated in the Adults category in the hammer throw event. "I felt very happy to wear the colors of my university and to represent my alma mater. I have received a lot of support from the university and that has given me a lot of confidence", she emphasized.
Milton Morán Chacón, student of the Civil Engineering career at César Vallejo University, Chimbote campus, also stood out in the 110 meters hurdles category and won the silver medal. The Vallejiano highlighted the support provided by César Vallejo University to athletes who seek to succeed.
"I have been able to win local, regional, national school, and federated competitions nationwide such as the U18 National Championship, the U20 National Championship, and the Adults National Championship", he added.
César Vallejo University is committed to the comprehensive education of its students, and a proof of this are the various cultural and sports programs it provides to the student community.
