Star Running Back Officially Questionable for Game Due to Ankle Injury

It is unlikely that the star running back of the New York Giants, Saquon Barkley, will play on Sunday against the Miami Dolphins due to an ankle injury, sources told Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Saquon Barkley, who is officially listed as questionable, was limited in practice last week and needed his right ankle re-taped during the early part of Friday's practice.

Barkley commented on Friday that, although he was "encouraged," "I don't want to give any guarantees" about playing in Miami.

This would be the third consecutive game that Barkley misses, who suffered the injury during the Week 2 victory of the Giants over the Arizona Cardinals. Sources informed ESPN at the time of the injury that the two-time Pro Bowler was expected to miss three weeks.

Matt Breida will once again remain in the role of lead running back on Sunday for the Giants (1-3), who have lost their last two games by a combined margin of 39 points and have the worst points differential of -76 in the NFL this season.

Matt Breida will once again run behind an improvised offensive line, as the Giants have already ruled out All-Pro left tackle Andrew Thomas (hamstring), rookie starting center John Michael Schmitz (shoulder), and guard Shane Lemieux (groin).
