Love for Medicine and Sports Unites Surgeon Couple Representing Peru in Master Athletics Championship

More than 25 years ago, Aldo Reyes and Rocío Vallejos, a couple of surgeon spouses working at EsSalud's Sabogal Prestational Network, met through their love for medicine and sports. They will represent Peru in the upcoming South American Master Athletics Championship to be held in our country in November.

With over 10 years of participation in various national and international competitions, the couple has achieved a balance between their careers as doctors and their passion for athletics and sports. While Aldo works as a plastic surgeon at the Sabogal Hospital, his wife works as a dental surgeon at CAP III Carabayllo.

"In 2016, we reached the Master Pan-American Championships held in Vancouver, Canada, and I was able to win the Gold medal in the 10,000 meters, Silver in the half marathon, and Bronze in the 5,000 meters," says Aldo Reyes, a surgeon at Sabogal Hospital.

The secret to maintaining a healthy life without neglecting their work is dedication, perseverance, effort, and discipline, qualities that they both share with their son, who has accompanied them to their various competitions since he was three years old.

"During my first national championship in Trujillo, without anyone noticing, my little son was on the track. He had come down from the stands to watch me," recalls Rocío Vallejos, a dental surgeon at CAP III Carabayllo.

Both will once again aim to bring honor to Peru in the next Pan-American Championships, which will gather over a thousand athletes from different parts of America.
