As every year, the Diamond League final in Zurich, Switzerland, will be the culmination of the athletic season worldwide.

About the Diamond League Final in Zurich

Every year, the Diamond League Final in Zurich, Switzerland, is the culmination of the athletic season worldwide. The best representatives of each event will meet at the Letzigrund Arena to conquer the prestigious title on September 7th and 8th.

Cuban Athletes in the Diamond League

Since its inception in 2010, Cuban athletes have achieved great success in this competition, with several of them bringing home the diamond. For 2022, a total of six Cubans (four of them not representing the National Federation) have directly qualified for the final.

Triple Jump

The highest number of Cuban athletes is in the men's triple jump, where four out of the six qualifiers are Cuban. Andy Díaz Hernandez leads the league with 23 points thanks to his victories in Silesia (17.53m) and Lausanne (17.67m), as well as a second-place finish in Paris (17.65m). He is currently based in Italy and competes with the Libertas Livorno club.

Díaz Hernandez has had the best season of his career, with a personal best of 17.68m achieved in the final of the Italian Athletics Championship.

Long Jump

In the long jump, Maykel Massó ranks second in the league standings with 20 points. The Olympic bronze medalist has achieved victories in Monaco (8.35m) and third-place finishes in Rabat (8.08m) and Silesia (8.09m).

400m Hurdles

Yasmani Copello, a Cuban athlete naturalized as Turkish, is currently sixth in the 400m hurdles standings with 14 points. He has participated in four competitions, with his best result being a fourth-place finish in Rabat.

These athletes will be competing in the Diamond League Finals on September 7th and 8th, showcasing their talents in one of the most prestigious athletics events globally.
