Guevara: Mexican Athletics Federation is not the only one with problems.

After the results in the Sub 20 Athletics World Championship, the head of the National Sports Commission, Ana Gabriela Guevara, stated that she is proud of the work that has been achieved despite the problems surrounding the Mexican Athletics Federation and the new channels they have found to continue supporting athletes directly.

However, she acknowledged that it is not the only federation that has problems, as not all have the same obstacles, but there are elements that have prevented resources from reaching athletes, whether due to legal, fiscal, or other reasons.

"The problems faced by federations are very varied. For example, there is a federation that has fiscal problems. The resources are granted for the athletes, and the federation requests that the resources be deposited into the federation's account. However, due to these fiscal problems, the resources were seized by the Treasury and lost. This is seen in many sports where sometimes the resources do not arrive. These are isolated cases that disrupt things, but it is not due to a lack of resources, it is only a lack of means for them to arrive," said Guevara in a press conference today.

"We are not fighting, it is not a matter of fighting, it is a legal matter. The person (Antonio Lozano, head of the Mexican Athletics Federation) is sentenced, and to this day he has not paid. It is not a matter of fighting, and if we stuck to what the letter says and what we would have to appeal and enforce through regulations, we would have had to deny resources to everyone, and athletics would be in a catastrophic scenario, which is something we did not want to do from the beginning of the administration. We are not fighting, we are looking for ways to improve and optimize the path for the athletes," she added.

In the case of the Mexican Racquetball Federation, Guevara assured that despite their upcoming World Championship, there will be no way to help their participants because all their members have a debt from previously granted resources:

"One of the most complicated federations is the Racquetball Federation, despite their results, nobody in that federation can receive resources. The entire board of directors, all athletes, coaches, and disciplinary body, all owe and nobody can receive money. They will have a World Championship, and we cannot support them because they have no way to receive resources," she concluded.
