The National Women's Foil Team Wins Gold Medal in the Central American and Caribbean Championship

The national women's foil team won the gold medal at the Central American and Caribbean Championship held in El Salvador, and also secured qualification for the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games in San Salvador.

The team that achieved this gold medal is composed of Alely Hernández, Victoria Meza, Diana Preciado, and Jimena Torres. Thus, the team secured four individual spots and one team spot for the regional event in 2023.

"We are very happy to achieve this gold medal in this tournament and we will continue working for what comes next," said Alely Hernández, who also obtained first place individually.

Victoria Meza, who won the silver medal individually, stated: "It was a very close competition as the countries in this area are very strong, but we made it in the end, we got the gold medal."

In this Central American championship, the men's sabre team also qualified for San Salvador 2023. The team was composed of Julián Ayala, Brandon Romo, Gibran Zea, and Josué Morales, and they also obtained four individual spots and one team spot.

This Saturday, the women's sabre and men's foil teams will compete in the tournament held in El Salvador, aiming to qualify for the Central American and Caribbean Games. Both teams have the possibility of achieving this goal based on their individual performances, where they won medals.

Mexico won the overall title of the tournament in the individual category, obtaining 11 medals: three golds, two silvers, and six bronzes.

The athletes have been thanking the Mexican Olympic Committee for supporting them in this regional tournament, for example with uniforms and flights to reach the venue of the competition and participate.
