Peru wins 45 medals at the South American Youth Games in Rosario.

The tournament ended today and our team won 11 gold medals, 18 silver medals, and 16 bronze medals.

Peru's name is on top of the sports world, thanks to the performance of the national delegation in the III South American Youth Games Rosario 2022 held in Argentina.

The tournament ended today and our athletes earned 11 gold medals, 18 silver medals, and 16 bronze medals, totaling 45 podium finishes. Peru finished in 7th place out of 15 participating countries.

In badminton, Peru's delegation won 8 medals including 3 gold, 4 silver, and 1 bronze on the final day. The three gold medals were won by Adriano Viale in the men's singles, sisters Rafaela and Fernanda Munar in the women's doubles, and Fernanda Munar and Adriano Viale in the mixed doubles.

The 11 gold medals were earned by: Alexia Sotomayor in swimming, 50-meter backstroke; Abel Sánchez in Greco-Roman wrestling, 55 kg; Fernando Sandoval in freestyle wrestling, 60 kg; Fernando Villegas in male Karate Kumite - 68 kg; Franchesco Elizalde in weightlifting, 67 kg (117 kg snatch, 134 kg clean and jerk, 251 kg total); Alessio Fukuda in fencing, individual foil; Shaiel Rodríguez in skateboarding, male street; Hidver Silva in weightlifting, 73 kg (101 kg snatch, 131 kg clean and jerk, 232 kg total); Adriano Viale in men's singles badminton; Rafaela and Fernanda Munar in women's doubles badminton; and Fernanda Munar and Adriano Viale in mixed doubles badminton.

The silver medals were earned by: Darío Cubas in Greco-Roman wrestling, 80 kg; Alexia Sotomayor in swimming, 100 m backstroke; Alessia Martínez and Lucciana Pérez in women's doubles tennis; Gonzalo Bueno and Ignacio Buse in men's doubles tennis; Alexia Sotomayor in swimming, 200 m backstroke; Alexandra Zavala in Cadet Women's Recurve Archery; Lucciana Pérez and Gonzalo Bueno in mixed doubles tennis; Luciana Julca in Judo, -63 kg; Hermes Moreno in male Karate Kumite -61 kg; Luis Huamán in athletics, 1500-meter race; Aron Earl in athletics, 100-meter race; Emanuel Apaza in athletics, 10 km race walk; Edgar Huillca in athletics, 2000 m steeplechase; Sharum Durand in men's singles badminton; Rafaela Munar in women's singles badminton; Adriano Viale and Sharum Durand in men's doubles badminton; Rafaela Munar and Sharum Durand in mixed doubles badminton; and Luis Chávez in athletics, 3000-meter race.

It is worth noting that the Peruvian Olympic Committee expressed special thanks to the athletes and sports federations for their outstanding work in this Olympic cycle.
