Syracuse’s Sean Tucker named second-team All-American by the Associated Press

Syracuse, N.Y. — Syracuse running back Sean Tucker earned another All-America nod for his record-setting sophomore season.

The SU tailback was named a second-team All-American by The Associated Press on Monday afternoon.

Tucker has now been named to three NCAA-recognized All-America selectors. He garnered second-team honors by the Walter Camp Football Foundation and first-team honors by the Football Writers Association of America last week.

Tucker was joined by Missouri’s Tyler Badie on the AP’s second team. Michigan State’s Kenneth Walker III and Iowa State’s Breece Hall earned first-team honors. Michigan’s Hassan Haskins and Texas at San Antonio’s Sincere McCormick rounded out the AP’s group of honorees on the third team.

The Sporting News and American Football Coaches Association are the remaining two NCAA-recognized selectors still to come this week.

Tucker is the cornerstone of the SU offense and heads into the 2022 season with preseason Heisman Trophy hype. He accumulated 1,751 yards from scrimmage with 14 total touchdowns and broke Joe Morris’s 42-year-old school record for most rushing yards in a season.

Tucker is one of just five rushers to earn first-team All-America honors in school history. The other four are Jim Brown, Ernie Davis, Floyd Little and Larry Csonka.
