Bolt also participated in a closed-door training session with the team on Thursday afternoon.

The Caribbean star announced in August, after the London Athletics World Championships, the end of a successful career highlighted by his eight Olympic gold medals. Last year, he surprised everyone by revealing that he seriously considered the possibility of entering professional football.

The Manchester United fan revealed that as a child he dreamed of becoming a football player. "It is a personal goal that I have set for myself," he said in October. "I don't care what people think."

In late February, Bolt tweeted that he had "signed with a football team." He was actually referring to being the captain of a team that will face a lineup of celebrities led by singer Robbie Williams at the Old Trafford stadium of Manchester United on June 10, benefiting the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).
