There is just over a year left for the Pan American Games 2019 to take place. As part of the preparations, it was announced that the stadium of the National University of San Marcos will be remodeled to host some sporting events.
This Monday, the institutional cooperation agreement with the university was signed to adapt the stadium to international standards. Work will begin in the first week of March after the awarding of the contracts.
The sports venue will have a capacity of 32,000 people. Seats will be placed in the stands, a modern athletics track, a modern soccer field, an auxiliary field for athletes' warm-up, sports lighting, and complementary facilities will be installed.
The agreement was signed between the president of Lima 2019, Carlos Neuhaus Tudela, and the rector of the National University of San Marcos, Orestes Cachay.
It is expected that the Lima 2019 Pan American Games will bring together around 6,700 athletes who will participate in 39 sports and 62 disciplines, from July 26 to August 11.
