Modest Burton Albion interested in Usain Bolt

The modest Burton Albion, led by Nigel Clough, son of the legendary Brian Clough, in the Championship, the second tier of English football, is "interested" in giving a trial to Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt, according to the club's president.

In an interview with The Sun published today, Ben Robinson, president of Burton, stated that he would not rule out incorporating the winner of eight Olympic gold medals, who officially retired from athletics last week after the World Championships in London.

"I'm sure we could (offer him a trial) and the coach (Nigel Clough) would like it. Anyway, he would be very fast!" commented Robinson.

"He has done a lot for athletics. Besides, we can look at Adam Gemili, who participated in the 4x100 meters relay and played football when he was young. We would be very interested," he said.

Bolt, 30, won the bronze medal in his last 100-meter race before suffering an injury in the 4x100m relay that forced him to withdraw. He has always expressed his passion for football, and there have been rumors that he could train with Borussia Dortmund or his favorite team, Manchester United.

"I'm sure the coach would give him a trial. If he can show the same enthusiasm and dedication for football, who knows how far he could go? The quality in the Championship is high and he, as is normal, would need a minimum quality to get into the team," emphasized the president of Burton, which currently sits at the bottom of the league with three defeats in three matches.

However, Clough, the coach of the Brewers, categorically ruled out the possibility of offering a trial to the Jamaican sprinter.

"I didn't know he (the president) chose the players. Now he'll have to come down to the dressing room and spend 10 minutes in the technical area to see how it goes," Clough jokingly declared.

"But would it be a loan or a signing? I don't know, to be honest. What's clear is that he would give us a lot of speed. As long as (Bolt) doesn't ask for too much money, I'm fine with it," added the coach with laughter, on Sky Sports.
