Eleventh Edition of Mexico City Half Marathon
On Sunday, July 30th, the eleventh edition of the Mexico City Half Marathon will take place; an event that serves as a prelude to the capital's marathon, which is considered the ninth most important athletics competition in the world in its category.
Approximately 25,000 runners are expected to participate in this event, who will have to complete a 21-kilometer (21,097.5 meters) route through the most representative streets of the capital city. The route is certified by the Mexican Federation of Athletics Associations, the International Association of Athletics Federations, and the International Association of Marathons.
The race will start at 7:00 am at the Bicentennial Fountain, located on Paseo de la Reforma, and will finish at the Angel of Independence. Below, we present kilometer by kilometer the route that the participants of the Half Marathon will travel:
START: Bicentennial Fountain (El Caballito), on Paseo de la Reforma 06030.
1 km: Reforma in front of the Senate of the Republic
2 km: Reforma in front of the United States Embassy
3 km: Reforma in front of the Torre Mayor
4 km: Reforma 80 before the Museum of Anthropology
5 km: Reforma, Metro Auditorio bus stop
6 km: Reforma, Fountain of Petroleos in front of Scotiabank
7 km: Reforma No 607, passing Explanada
8 km: Reforma No. 1121
Turnaround: Monte Libano
9 km: Reforma No. 650, towards Centro
10 km: Reforma, Cuernavaca Railway, bike path, towards Centro
11 km: Reforma in front of the taxi stand, at the National Auditorium
12 km: Chivatito next to the surveillance booth, going up Periferico
13 km: Neri Vela going up to the lake in front of La Tapatía
14 km: Neri Vela in front of the Fountain of the Nymphs
15 km: Neri Vela passing the Museum of Natural History, in front of the guide map, entrance Constituyentes
16 km: Neri Vela in front of the E4 roller coaster
17 km: In the ear of Los Pinos
18 km: Gran Avenida, passing 30 meters the Monument to the Children
19 km: Gran Avenida at the Baños de Moctezuma
20 km: Reforma, speed camera sign exiting Chapultepec Forest
21 km: Reforma No. 390 Banamex
FINISH LINE: Angel of Independence, on Reforma No. 374 STBKS.
Among the most significant landmarks of the city that can be seen along the route are: the Columbus Monument, the Cuauhtemoc Monument, the Palma Roundabout, the Angel of Independence, the Diana Cazadora Fountain, the Chapultepec Forest, the Petroleos Fountain, Los Pinos, the Chapultepec Castle, and the Estela de Luz.
