Mirtha Uribe is back

The International Volleyball Federation decided to cancel the sanction that had been imposed on Mirtha Uribe after testing positive in an anti-doping control during the Volleyball Pre-Olympic in Japan. The volleyball player had proven that the positive result was due to consuming meat contaminated with clenbuterol in Mexico, prior to the trip to the eastern country. Therefore, she was only suspended for twelve months.

Mirtha Uribe will not have to wait until May, when the one-year suspension was completed, to be able to play again. The announcement was made by the Peruvian Volleyball Federation, who, through an official resolution, enabled the athlete to resume her activity with the national team.

In the resolution issued by the International Volleyball Federation, it can be read that Mirtha Uribe is excluded from any sanction, as she did not commit any offense. "The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) with reference to Case Number 2017/A/4963 regarding the sanction of the athlete of the national women's volleyball team, Mirtha Sebastiana Uribe Soriano, announces that the FIVB's decision to suspend her is annulled, as the athlete did not commit any offense regarding the alleged anti-doping rule violation," the statement reads.

With this resolution, it is announced that Mirtha Uribe will be able to participate in the National Superior Volleyball League (LNSV) with her club Deportivo Jaamsa and could be called up by the senior national team led by coach Luizomar de Moura. She will be able to represent Peru in the Pan American Cup for Seniors, to be held in Lima from June 15 to 26, and in the FIVB World Grand Prix Serie 2, with the first leg taking place in Chiclayo from July 7 to 9.
