Stefany Hernández expressed that some runners do their best to win and that the accident in the final of the race occurred due to the recklessness of one of them.

The Venezuelan Stefany Hernández complained today about an "unsportsmanlike" action by a runner that caused a multiple fall in the final of the BMX at the Toronto 2015 Pan American Games , leaving the favorites without a chance at medals.

"After the start, you can do whatever you want, but it was something a little unsportsmanlike and that's how competitions are. There are people who do very ugly things just to win and that's what happened," said Hernández to journalists without naming names.

The Olympic and Pan American champion of Guadalajara 2011, the Colombian Mariana Pajón , the American Alise Post, and the Venezuelan Hernández were involved in the fall.

The three of them were on track to win medals at Toronto 2015, but the fall in the first curve of the Pan American BMX Park took away their chances.

The Venezuelan, who had fallen in the qualifying round a few minutes before the final, suffered injuries to her right elbow and tearfully expressed that accidents on the track are "part of the job."

"It's fine. There's still the World Championship in two weeks and the Olympic Games (Rio de Janeiro 2016) and we're going for those medals. But one of my goals was to complete the cycle with medals in all competitions. Unfortunately, we couldn't do it at these Pan American Games," lamented the fifth-ranked in the world.

The gold in the BMX event went to the American Felicia Stancil, with a time of 41 seconds and 617 milliseconds, the silver went to the Ecuadorian Doménica Azuero (41.948), and the bronze to the Argentine Mariana Díaz (42.611).
