After the violent acts at the Luis Pirata Fuente Stadium, Marco Antonio Rodríguez, former referee, stated that André-Pierre Gignac was the origin of the situation.
"Everything has an origin: At the moment of Gignac's first goal, he jumped over the announcements and provoked the fans, the referee should have booked him", wrote Rodríguez.

In response to the statement, the Tigres' forward asked Rodríguez to "avoid talking" if he didn't know how it happened.
Prior to that, the Frenchman had an altercation with a fan who also blamed him for the violence.
