Universitario de Deportes presents its 2017 team
Last night, Universitario de Deportes officially presented its 2017 squad at the 'Noche Crema' event. Afterward, the team played against Universidad Católica from Chile, resulting in a goalless draw.
Roberto Chale fielded two different teams, one in each half. In the first half, the apparent starting lineup played, while in the second half, substitutes were given a chance.
In this scenario, Universitario drew 0-0 against Católica. The first half was fast-paced and exciting, with Vargas - Gómez forming a good partnership and constant crosses for Rengifo.
The 'cremas' came close to opening the scoring with a header from Galliquio, but goalkeeper Costanzo made a good save to keep the ball out. Then, Juan Manuel Vargas unleashed a powerful left-footed shot, which was deflected by Constanzo for a corner. As for Católica, Buonanotte was their most dangerous player.
In the second half, ten changes were made, and the match was a different story. Universitario lowered the tempo, and the pace disappeared. Católica was also unimpressive, passing the ball from side to side with rare attacking opportunities.
Universitario de Deportes will have another international friendly, this time against Once Caldas from Colombian football.
