German Football Federation announces candidacy to host Euro 2024
The president of the organization, Reinhard Grindel, stated that they will select 10 stadiums to work with Transparency International during the campaign, before UEFA chooses the host in September 2018.
The German organizers of the 2006 World Cup are under investigation in a Swiss criminal inquiry regarding suspicious payments related to FIFA.
Nevertheless, Germany is considered the favorite to host Euro 2024, after reaching an agreement with England to not apply for hosting the tournament's final and semifinals in 2020, which will be held in multiple countries.
The possibility of a joint candidacy by Scandinavian countries for 2024 has also been mentioned. However, UEFA has warned that only a maximum of two hosts would automatically qualify for the tournament, which will feature 24 teams.
UEFA has set a deadline of March 3rd for federations to announce their interest.
