The municipal authorities are preparing everything for the 29th edition of the Lala International Marathon, which has an economic impact of 40 million pesos.
"The Lala Marathon organization informs us that the interest keeps growing every day and they even mention that it serves as a qualification for another event in August, and there are already 5,200 registered competitors," said Jorge Luis Morán Delgado, mayor of Torreón.
Añadió que el Sistema Integral de Mantenimiento Vial también participará, pero con la reparación de las calles que tienen baches.
He indicated that the registrations, which were opened at the end of last year, had a good response from runners around the world in a short time.
"They told us that the registrations were sold out in 11 days, and the issue to increase the number is the hotel infrastructure, but we know that two more buildings are under construction in the northern part of the city," he added.
Morán Delgado made the above statements after a working meeting with the competition organizers and members of various municipal departments who will provide support for the event.
He detailed that the Traffic and Municipal Police departments are responsible for monitoring and protecting the runners, while the Public Services area will be in charge of placing signage.
