FBC Melgar is very close to closing the signing of Nigerian forward John Utaka, who played in the Korea-Japan 2002 and South Africa 2010 World Cups.

John Chukwudi Utaka, born on January 8, 1982 in Enugu, Nigeria, plays for Sivasspor. He usually plays as a forward or right winger and has the approval of Juan Reynoso, coach of FBC Melgar. The future reinforcement of FBC Melgar has been an international player for the Nigeria national football team in 43 matches and has scored 6 goals.

John Utaka has played for the following teams: Arab Contractors in Egypt (1998-2000), Ismaily SC Flag in Egypt (2000-2001), Al-Saad Flag in Qatar (2001-2002), RC Lens Flag in France (2002-2005), Stade Rennes in France (2005-2007), Portsmouth FC in England (2007-2011), Montpellier HSC in France (2011-2013), and Sivasspor (2013-present).

FBC Melgar currently has Colombian players Omar Fernández and Dahwling Leudo, and Uruguayan player Jean Pierre Barrientos as foreigners.
