Location and History
The Arena Ciudad de México is located on the grounds of the old forge slaughterhouse in the Azcapotzalco district. Its construction began in 2009 and it was finally inaugurated in February 2012.
Events
At this venue, you can not only attend concerts by different world-class artists, but also various sports have found a home here.
Some of the events that used to take place at the Plaza de Toros México, such as X Pilots or Monster Jam, have now found space in this arena. It is almost obligatory to attend and enjoy them once a year.
The Palacio de los Deportes used to be the usual venue to watch wrestling matches by WWE and Triple A companies.
The American company comes once a year with its "WWE Live" show, and Mexicans celebrate the Triplemania every August, which is the anniversary of the wrestling group.
Another event of lesser tradition but not less important for the administration of the venue is "Cuernos Chuecos", a sport considered extreme and professionalized in the United States, which is nothing more than what we know as Jaripeo in our country.
On the other hand, the NBA will have one of its "Global Games" here, as the Phoenix Suns will play a couple of home games in the arena against the Spurs and Mavericks.
Last year, a civil protection issue prevented the game from taking place, so basketball fans have been eagerly waiting for it.
