Atlas: Doubts about the attack for the match against Toluca
With their first commitment of the 2017 Clausura against the Toluca Red Devils coming up this Sunday, Atlas is unsure about which players will make up their attack. On Thursday, during their first conference of the year, coach José Guadalupe Cruz mentioned that neither Matías Alustiza nor Fidel Martínez are one hundred percent ready to play against the Choriceros.
Both Martínez and Alustiza had difficult pre-seasons with the Zorros for different reasons. While the Ecuadorian striker arrived in Guadalajara on December 18th, ‘Chavo’ suffered a sprained ankle during a friendly match against the Cimarrones de Sonora.
“In the case of Fidel, he had an extended vacation, his competitive rhythm is not optimal, he is not one hundred percent, his rhythm is a bit low; we will take him to this match against Toluca and it will depend on these days of work whether he starts or comes off the bench.
“Matías unfortunately suffered an ankle sprain from which he is recovering; he has already participated in scrimmages, scored a goal and experienced some discomfort, which is normal. Matías is doing very well, he has a lot of goals, a great mentality and he has been very good for the team. I am unsure whether to start with Matías and Fidel, Matías and Martín, or Fidel and Martín,” he stated.
Regarding Rafael Márquez's initiative to create a Players Association, the ‘Profe’ expressed his support and recognized that his player has an intelligent project to consolidate his idea.
