Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal has won the Mubadala exhibition tournament in Abu Dhabi for the fourth time in his career, after defeating Belgian David Goffin with scores of 6-4 and 7-6 (7/5). Nadal declared himself ready for the 2017 season of the Association of Tennis Professionals.

The final of the tournament was played on Saturday between two players who were not favored to win, and who were facing each other for the first time. However, the Mallorcan players, who returned to competition more than two months after his last match, was better.

A balanced duel was seen in the first minutes, with Goffin coming close to breaking Nadal's serve, but he failed. On the other hand, the Spaniard took advantage of his opportunity in the tenth game to lead 6-4.

Although the Belgian player performed better at the beginning of the second set and took a 3-1 lead, he couldn't maintain the advantage and Nadal caught up. Goffin kept the pressure on, but once again failed to convert his break points, leading to a tie-breaker.

In the tie-breaker, the former world number one was better and celebrated for the fourth time in the capital of the United Arab Emirates after his victories in 2010, 2011, and the tournament held in early January of this year.

Furthermore, with his wins over Czech player Tomas Berdych, Canadian player Milos Raonic, and Goffin, Nadal declared himself ready for the 2017 season, hoping to overcome the physical problems he faced in 2016. He will first showcase his abilities in Brisbane and then in the Australian Open.

In the third-place match of the tournament, British player Andy Murray, the world number one, defeated Raonic, the third-ranked player, with scores of 6-3 and 7-6 (8/6) after an hour and 39 minutes of action.
