Santos starts to 'warm up'

This Thursday morning, Santos Laguna held their first preparation match for the Clausura 2017 Tournament, facing Real Zamora from the Second Division, whom they defeated 1-0.

The next preseason match is scheduled for this Sunday at 10:00 am, against Tampico Madero.

In this match, the reinforcements Jonathan Orozco, Jorge Enríquez, and Julio Furch played their first minutes with the Santos jersey, while coach José Manuel de la Torre started to fine-tune the lineup he intends to have at the beginning of the league competition.

The match took place at the facilities of the High Performance Center of the Mexican Football Federation. The actions started at 10:00 am under a cool weather. The match consisted of two halves of 50 minutes each.

The albiverdes started with Jonathan Orozco, Gerardo Arteaga, Carlos Izquierdoz, Néstor Araujo, Jorge Enríquez, Gael Sandoval, Ulises Rivas, Ulises Dávila, Djaniny Tavares, Jonathan Rodríguez, and Julio Furch.

In the early stages of the match, the lagunera squad sought to take control of the ball and impose their rhythm of play, while their opponent showed organization and pressure at all times.

The laguneros started knocking on the opponent's door using the right wing, where Sandoval and Tavares were very active, although without the fortune of connecting with Furch in the final touch.

It was in the 46th minute when José Manuel de la Torre's team opened the scoring through a corner kick taken by Sandoval, which was headed by Izquierdoz to the right of the goalkeeper, who could do nothing to prevent the goal.

For the second half, Santos took to the field with the following players: Julio González, Jorge Villafaña, Andrés Murillo, Jesús Angulo, Jorge Sánchez, Diego de Buen, David Andrade, Mauricio Cuero, Uriel Antuna, Emiliano Armenteros, and Ronaldo Cisneros.

During the second half, the albiverdes maintained their attacking proposal, with Colombian Cuero and youth product Antuna being the players who generated danger on the wings, while Cisneros came close to scoring on several occasions, positioning himself correctly in the immediate vicinity of the area.

In the 77th minute, Juan Caicedo from Colombia came onto the field, replacing his compatriot Murillo. Santos maintained dominance.

The match, which had rough play and contacts in different sectors of the field, continued in the same line until the end, without any new changes in the score, allowing the verdiblancos to start their series of friendlies prior to the tournament on the right foot.

This Friday, the team from Comarca will train twice, at 9:00 am and 4:30 pm, at the facilities of the High Performance Center of the Mexican Football Federation.

The next preseason match is scheduled for this Sunday at 10:00 am, against Tampico Madero.
