Manuel Burga, former president of the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF), finally departed to the United States to face justice in that country for the crimes of illicit association to commit crimes against that country.

TRANSFER.

Around 3:30 pm yesterday, Burga left the confinement room at Ancón II Prison and was transferred in a vehicle of the National Penitentiary Institute (INPE), escorted by personnel from Warrants and Interpol, as well as the Peru National Police (PNP), to Jorge Chavez International Airport.

Before entering the international flight zone, Burga entered the police station at this airport, making himself available to the corresponding authorities for the final point of the extradition process and the approval of the departure of the former executive of the South American Football Confederation (Conmebol) from the country.

TRIP. The flight of the former head of the FPF departed around midnight and should be arriving in New York City around 9 am (Peruvian time), where he will be summoned to respond to the fiscal citation he has for organized crime and money laundering.

EXTRADITION. As you may recall, the Peruvian government agreed last week to the extradition request from Manuel Burga, through Supreme Resolution 211-2016-JUS published by the Ministry of Justice in the official newspaper El Peruano, with the signatures of President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski and the Ministers of Justice, Marisol Pérez Tello, and Foreign Affairs, Ricardo Luna.

There are sixteen Conmebol leaders implicated in the FIFA Gate. The majority accepted guilt and decided to be effective collaborators. Burga said he was innocent.
