Several Brazilian football clubs propose solidarity measures for Chapecoense
Several Brazilian football clubs jointly proposed a series of solidarity measures for the reconstruction of Chapecoense, including the free loan of players.
The note was initially released by the four most important clubs in Sao Paulo - Sao Paulo, Corinthians, Palmeiras and Santos - Curitiba and Portuguesa. However, once published, sports institutions from all cities in the country began to replicate and join the initiative.
The measures proposed in the text include the free loan of football players to Chapecoense in the 2017 season and the formal request to the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) that the team cannot be relegated in the next three years, regardless of their position in the table.
"This is the minimum gesture of solidarity that is within our reach at this moment, but with the most sincere objective of rebuilding this institution and the part of Brazilian football that was lost today," the statement concludes.
Palmeiras, the champion of the Brazilian tournament, also announced that they will ask the CBF to play the last round of the championship wearing the Chapecoense jersey. The date, which was going to take place this weekend, was rescheduled for December 11th.
Initially, on that day Chapecoense was supposed to face Atletico Mineiro.
The plane in which Chapecoense was traveling to Colombia to play the final of the Copa Sudamericana crashed on Monday night, leaving 75 people dead, including 19 players who were part of the team.
