The Sandoval era starts this Thursday with lots to do

Only 14 players from last year's squad are called to undergo the medical examination. Among them is not Riki, with whom the club is trying to find a way out to terminate the remaining year of his contract, and Success is included as a full member of the first team after convincing last year by moving up from the subsidiary team. In the list of called players, El Arabi, whose future seems to be more out than in the club, and Jhon Córdoba are also included, another one who could be loaned out if the circumstances are right. The two signings presented so far, Edgar and Musavu King, are also called to start working, as well as seven players who have been on loan during the past season and return to Granada either to stay or to wait for new destinations.

Although the club has not confirmed the presence of all of them, the pre-season should start for the defenders Juampe and Borja Gómez, midfielders Yuste and Fatau, and forwards Buonanotte, Larsson, and Jona. Of all of them, Fatau is the one with the most chances of staying, while the solution for the rest involves a loan or termination of their contracts, something that seems not easy in cases like that of Borja Gómez or Buonanotte, as demonstrated last summer. Therefore, counting on Machís' loan, the most likely departure of El Arabi, the arrival of Fatau and the two signings, Granada would currently have 16 players.

The team still needs to sign at least one goalkeeper, one central defender, one right back, two midfielders, and at least four attacking players including forwards and wingers. All of this is necessary if the team wants to improve on last year's squad and achieve the goal set by Sandoval, which is to avoid suffering as much as in previous seasons. The medical tests start early on Thursday at the stadium and the first training sessions will take place on Friday.
